Maison NO. 9 Rosé 2019
It was a quiet Monday morning in the early 2000s and I was getting the store open and ready for the day. I had just opened the doors and sat back down at the computer to review the previous day when someone walked through the front door. I looked up to say good morning to the first customer of the day and instead the only word that came out of my mouth was, “Viper!?” To my obvious surprise it was Tom Skerritt, yes, the actor that played Viper in Top Gun and we were actually his customer. Tom used to own Crested Butte Brewing and he came in for a sales call to see Kim and Pete. This was the beginning for me as far as celebrity owned brands go and I will have to say that for the most part they do their homework and bring us some tasty beverages. Today’s wine of the week is the newest celebrity installment; Post Malone has collaborated with winemaker Alexis Cornu to develop this Provecal rosé, Maison No. 9, and I have to say that it is quite pleasant. A blend of 45% Grenache Noir, 25% Cinsault, 15% Syrah and 15% Merlot that is refreshing, a touch fruity and a perfect, chilly bevy for these scorching summer days! Fresh strawberries, tropical fruits and wet stone notes accompany field flowers racy acidity to balance out this lovely rosé from the ‘Sunflower’ and ‘Circles’ s i n g e r- s o n g w r i t e r. “Rosé is for when you want to get a little fancy!” – Post Malone
Cheers! -Matt
