Not every Oktoberfest beer needs to be a rich, amber malt bomb. 4 Noses’ take on the concept is one such exception. Rather than sticking to the older, more traditional Märzen style, their seasonal lager is more like the golden Wiesn lagers that have become more popular in Munich recently. It’s what they would probably pour for you if you went this year. Pouring a rich gold with a nice, foamy top, it pops with spicy hop notes on the nose. The medium-bodied brew has a lot of complexity in the flavor department, from zesty noble hops to subtly sweet cracker malts. It definitely packs enough of a punch to distinguish it from your average pils or kölsch, but it’s a bit more approachable and summery than the other Oktoberfest beers you may be used to.
