Chardonnay 2017

When we arrived at the Longridge winery and restaurant in Stellenbosch we were instructed to take a glass of the Longridge MCC Brut and remove our shoes to walk the garden barefoot. This combination of the earth against the soles of our feet and the glass of fabulous bubbles were extremely relaxing and they pretty much had me sold at that point. Then we sat and introduced ourselves while we were served the most decadent, vegan gnocchi I have ever tasted along with this 2017 Longridge Chardonnay. While the gnocchi was amazing, the Chardonnay had me beside myself by how well put together this wine is. A very versatile Chardonnay with great aging potential, this wine will only improve over the next five years or so, and it’s fantastic out of the bottle now, to boot. Winemaker, Jasper Raats practices organics and biodynamics in the vineyards, as well being as hands free as possible in the cellar. This 100% estate grown Chardonnay is peachy on the palate with notes of guava and a little bready mouthfeel. A Chardonnay balanced flawlessly with citrus and lime flavors coursing through a long, bright finish! Mouthwatering and delicious with roast turkey and soft cheeses.
