Lapostolle was founded in 1994 by Alexandra Marinier Lapostolle and her husband, Cyril de Bournet after they fell in love with Chile, especially the Colchagua province. The Rapel Valley, where the fantastic fruit for this week’s wine hails, runs for sixty miles, from the edge of the Maipo Valley to the edge of Colchagua. Their family’s roots in France and long running presence in the wine industry, since 1827, has cemented them as one of Chile’s finest wine houses. This Lapostolle Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 is fascinating, with layer upon layer of notes of strawberry, plum and dark cherry. The medium-plus mouthfeel of this wine is pleasantly concentrated and silky with fine tannin and acidity. The perfect choice for a winters evening by the fire and really any red meat of hearty stew.
