Commanderie de Peyrassol is a famed estate in the heart of the Cotes de Provence.  The property was founded in the 13th century by the Knights Templar with the estates first harvest recorded in 1256.  For hundreds of years Commanderie de Peyrassol has been a place where winemaking and history go hand in hand.  The 2018 Peyrassol La Croix des Templiers rouge is an ode to the estate’s founders and long history.  A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Syrah the wine is fresh and easy to drink yet still offers a ton of depth.  Red cherry, plum, boysenberry and raspberry nuances mingle alongside notes of freshly cracked pepper.  The wine is vibrant with refreshing acidity and mild tannins making for a very quaffable red that is easy to pair with multiple dishes. Try it with pasta, pizza, roasted vegetables, chicken, beef stew, cheese and charcuterie.   Overall this is just an outstanding everyday red for the money!
