From the City of Brotherly Love, please welcome a new face to our food fridge; Di Bruno Bros. In the 1930’s Italian immigrants and brothers, Danny and Joe Di Bruno, landed in Philadelphia and started a cheese revolution. They began by opening a neighborhood grocery store in 1934 and 25 years later when the market began to shift into supermarket chains a trip to Switzerland inspired them to turn their grocery store into a gourmet cheese shop and hence the Di Bruno Bros “House of Cheese” came to be. Celebrating their 80th anniversary this year, Di Bruno Bros are a destination icon of Philadelphia but have also gained national and international recognition for their contribution to the culinary world. This week be sure to grab one of their artisan aged cheddar cheese spreads available in three flavors; Port Wine, Garlic & Herb, and my personal favorite Bacon Horseradish. An excellent addition to a cheese and charcuterie board or used as a spread on a sandwich, Di Bruno Bros. spreads will be on sale this week for $4.99, usually $6.99. Cheers and Bon Appetit!
