Renegade Brewing E3 Elevation Triple IPA – 11.2% ABV

Renegade Brewing has released their award–winning Elevation Triple IPA in 12 oz cans. The E3 is a single-hop beer using Summit hops throughout, giving it a classic citrus/grass hop aroma and flavor. Well-bittered, with a nice long finish, the E3 disguises its high alcohol with enough malt to provide excellent balance.

Be careful with this one. It’s a very pleasant, easy drinking, thoroughly enjoyable IPA, that will allow you to finish the entire 4-pack before you realize its 11.2%. Enjoy!

Renegade’s new offering, Elevation IPA3, does not disappoint hopheads!  Coming in at 11.2% ABV, this hop monster’s got bite.  It pours a rich golden-orange that almost seems to glow.  The aroma immediately begs you to take notice with an abundance of hops, fruit, and a hint of alcohol.  The taste matches the aroma quite closely with great fresh hop flavor and notes of apricot, mango and grapefruit citrus with a slight alcohol bite.  The mouthfeel is quite rich and creamy with a bit of a stickiness that tends to accompany Imperial IPA’s like this, ending with a mild dryness.  A little more on the sweeter side of PIA’s as opposed to in-your-face bitterness, this beer is definitely worth check out if you’re the hop lover like me.

Nason's beer of the week 9/5/12

September 5th, 2012 8:41am - Posted By: Nason Lamb

This week’s beer feature showcases the newest creation from our friends at Odell Brewing Company.  It’s called Deconstruction and it lives up to its name.  The reason being is that this beer deconstructs any stereotypes that beer geeks use to try and label a beer’s characteristics.  This incredibly complex ale will lead drinkers to revel in new discoveries with each sip.  It is aggressively carbonated and pours a golden copper with a huge head.  Right away the nose is hit with hints of dried fruit and sweet alcohol.   As for the taste, this ale refuses to fall into easy categorization.  On one hand, there is a funky banana presence that is reminiscent to abbey or strong kolsch styles.  However, the beer also exhibits a spice and sweet alcohol character that is more comparable to bourbon barrel aged beers.  In conclusion, this ale is for the adventurous beer drinker who is looking to put their taste buds to the test.  Truly a deconstruction of any simple generalization of what a beer can be.

Omission Lager-

Gluten Free beer is a new category in the ever growing world of beer. It is also a very necessary one. Many gluten free beers just aren't as tasty as regular beers. Thankfully, with the growing selection and competition, the quality of gluten free beers is getting much better. Omission Lager is one of the better gluten free beers. Omission pours with a fluffy white head that relaxes into a very thin lacing above a hay colored body.  The aroma is of light yeast and light hops with a unique sour hint. The taste is of light sweet honey with a nice fruity crispness. This is light bodied beer for the hot days. The Omission lager finishes with a nice dryness, rounding it out. This is a great choice for a hot day, and has the added bonus of being gluten free. Tune in next week for a review of the Omission Pale Ale! Bottoms up!

Omission is produced by Widmer Brothers Brewing (OR).  Please see the Omission website (www.omissionbeer.com for all the gluten-free documentation!

Nason's beer of the week 8/15/12

August 15th, 2012 10:20am - Posted By: Nason Lamb

This week's beer features a Scotch-Style Ale from Moylan's Brewery.  It's title "Kilt Lifter" expresses the joy and fun that the creators of this beer must have had in making it.  It pours a robust reddish brown.  The nose features notes of sweet carmel and a very, very, subtle dash of strawberry.  Not meant to be served ice cold, the beer's sweet malts develop nicely after opened.  Unlike many other scotch ales, the Kilt Lifter has a nice easy going sessionable feel.  A very nice ale at a nice price.  Kilts UP Bottoms UP!

Brasserie Dupont Posca Rustica

This week’s beer of the week features the Posca Rustica from the world renowned Brassiere Dupont of Belgium.  It can be very easy these days to get excited about the burgeoning Colorado craft beer industry that often relies on a heavy helping of hops.  However before the popularization of hops in beer, brewers utilized a mixture of herbs and spices to flavor and bitter their beers.  This mixture is called gruit and Dupont’s Posca Rustica is a classic example of the ancient brewing style.  The result is something that is neither overly bitter or malty, but zesty and full of life.  This is apparent from the spritzer like carbonation that remains until the last drop.  The beer exhibits a nice combination of spice and fermented fruit, but is not overbearing in either sense.  In fact, there is a subtle complexity to the ale that hints at an array of mouth feel and flavor.  If you like Belgian beers but have a difficult time relating to the overpowering fermented funk of the yeast strains, than this would be a good beer to sample.
