Dad & Dude's Dank IPA

Dank IPA comes from a new Colorado brewery Dad & Dude's Brewery in Aurora. My first thought when I saw this beer was "In an market that is being saturated with IPA's, does Colorado need another one?" I had to grab this one and pour to find out. I am surprised by the aroma on this beer as it is packed full of citrus and sweet malts. Emanating from this beer are hints of grapefruit, mango, orange, pineapple and nice hints of a grassy finish. It speaks of a spring time field on a rainy day. Sweet malt smells back up the tangyness which blends together quite nicely. The taste is refreshing and bright with a nice bitter edge to it. The citrus really shines through with a vibrancy that really sets Dank apart from many other IPA's. The mouth feel is full and very satisfying. The body is just as full and the carbonation is just enough
to liven it up with out making it too sharp. The finish is long and brimming with an amazing bitterness that keeps you company with every sip. The answer to my question turned out to be a resounding YES! This is a wonderful addition to Colorado's already fantastic lineup of beers. Bottoms up!

Dave's beer of the week 8/29/12

Omission Pale Ale

Last week we highlighted the Omission Lager, a gluten free beer. Lagers are nice and refreshing, but for those looking for a little more hops and a little more flavor while still being gluten free, the Omission Pale Ale fits the bill. The Omission Pale Ale pours with a creamy white head that sticks around. The nose on this beer sports a citrus front with hints of apple. The taste of hops is more present than it's lager counterpart. The Omission Pale Ale is still light bodied, with more of a bitter finish than the lager. Overall, the Omission beers are great choices for the Gluten intolerant or just plain thirsty. Bottoms up!

Dave's beer of the week 7/4/12

Wookey Jack- Firestone Walker Brewing CO

What is the Wookey Jack? No, it is not a star wars inspired disco move- but the amazing
black rye IPA from Firestone and Walker. This beer pours a mahogony color with a light tan head. The Wookey Jack has aromas of roasted malts and herbal citrus. The spicy rye in this beer compliments the roasted coffee and hoppy taste. The mouthfeel is on the lighter side with a good carbonation. The Wookey Jack has a very complex palate but is still very well balanced. Overall this beer is perfect for IPA lovers who are looking for an exciting take on a great style. Bottoms Up!

Dave's beer of the week 6/27/2012

Le Merle from North Coast Brewing
Saison is the French word for season, and the summer season is definitely here.
Like this summer, Le Merle is a saison that comes on in full force. This beer pours a cloudy orange with
a healthy head. Aromas of cloves, pears and spicy yeast come emanating out of Le Merle. The taste brings these complex
spices to life and has hints of white grapes and apples. This beer is very bright and has a lot of vibrancy ,
just like the sunny days of summer. This beer is great for lovers of wheat beers as well as anyone looking for
a good summer draft. Bottoms Up!

Dave's beer of the week 6/20/12

Anderson Valley Summer Solstice Cerveza Crema

Summer is in full swing, and so is the heat. This allows the young ones to have popsicles and ice-cream as an ice cold snack, but what about us adults? For the adults is something better; Anderson Valley Summer Solstice. It pours a clear copper color with a thin tan head. The mouth feel of the Summer Solstice is light, refreshing and creamy. This beer tastes like an orange creamsicle, especially when extra cold. I like putting the Summer Solstice in the freezer for about ten minutes before drinking, making it extra cold and refreshing on a hot day. Warning! Just remember to take it outof the freezer! This beer is perfect for those looking for a refreshing treat to help beat the heat. Bottoms up!

Dave's beer of the week 6/13/12

Elysian Prometheus Stolen Fire IPA
SEASONAL BEER IBU: 60  ABV: 6.7%

As temperatures rise in the summer, some IPAs and double IPAs can be too
resinous. They begin to gain a thick mouth feel, which can sometimes be too much to enjoy in the +80 degree weather. Well friends, if a hoppy summer drink is on your mind, come try Seattle’s Elysian Prometheus. The Prometheus pours a hazy amber color with a decent off white head. Soft grassy hop aromas are backed by somewhat caramelized pineapple. Taste is like an orange peel; citrus with a nice bitter bite. This beer is especially good for someone who wants a slightly bitter IPA that is still crisply refreshing on a hot day. This beer is best enjoyed cold. Bottoms up!
