Maui Brewing Co. CoCoNut Porter 5.7% A.B.V.

From the island to the mainland CoCoNut Porter from Maui Brewing Co is here. Its color is an intense shade of dark mahogany with a very thin layer of fluffy foam. At first there is a strong scent of roasted malts, but let the beer get used to the atmosphere and as it warms up you'll be amazed at how much the aromas change. Roasted malts turn into the subtle scent of coffee and milk chocolate with a smooth coconut finish. The flavor presents itself in a similar way. There's just a hint of hops, that when combined with the flavor of chocolate, tastes like a cup of black coffee. When the taste of coconut comes into play all of the flavors combine to create a long, but delicate, finish. Though it may not feel like winter just yet, keep this brew in mind for when it does decide to finally snow. Enjoy.

Left Hand Twin Sisters Double I.P.A. 9.6% A.B.V.

Left Hand's Twin Sisters double I.P.A. is a deceiving work of craft beer art. The words twin and double can be misleading because there aren't just double the hops or double the malt, but instead, a whole lot of both. The color is a deep and cloudy orange that leaves a beautiful lacing of pearly white bubbles down the side of a pint glass. On the nose there's the overwhelming scent of hops, both floral and citrus aromas, that blend perfectly with the scent of oak and sweet cream. The flavors are euphoric. A creamy texture floats its way from the tongue to the throat and brings about the flavor of hop butter. Yes, I said hop butter. Think of a stick of butter that has been enhanced by the bitterness of hops. Now take that butter and spread it on some roasted malts, then eat it. I think the point that I'm trying to make is that the Twin Sisters is like a beautifully made beer that can compete with any breakfast. Grab some today and make this two-some a three-some!!

Delirium Noel 10% A.B.V.

Delirium Noel is a belgian strong ale that will definitely warm the coldest of winter nights. Its deep rich color is a cloudy shade of walnut. On the nose you get the subtle aroma of raisins and alcohol followed by the sweet scent of caramel apples. The taste is just a little sour at first but is followed by the complexity of dark fruit and a balance of alcohol and brown sugar. The alcohol stays hidden but it pleasantly warms the throat and stomach so enjoy the rest of your holiday season with this elegant brew. Cheeeers!

Goose Island Sofie 6.5% A.B.V.

From the masters at Goose Island out of Chicago I bring you Sofie, a beer as beautiful as its name, it is something to be desired and enjoyed. This beer looks like champagne in your glass. The color is flawless with a never ending stream of bubbles that forms a glistening white head. On the nose you get notes of freshly peeled bananas, with the subtle scent of pilsner yeast, and just the slight sting of alcohol. The taste of bananas is followed by delicious flavors of fresh greens and cucumbers. There is just a hint of that pilsner yeast, but ultimately you're left with the delicious taste of mandarin oranges. This beer is refreshing and can be enjoyed with anything, so enjoy. Cheers!
