Stone/Green Flash/Pizza Port Highway 78 Scotch Ale 8.8% A.B.V.
These breweries are known for their incredibly hoppy brews, which is what most people would expect from this collaboration. But, don't let Highway 78 fool you, it's definitely a different breed of brew. Pouring a rich brown with ruby highlights a thin layer of beige foam circles the mouth of the glass. On the nose there are rich aromas of toffee, yeasty dough, roasted malts and the sweet scent of alcohol. The taste starts off smooth and creamy with the velvety flavor of toffee that finishes with a unique combination of nuttiness and alcohol. At 8.8% I expected this one to be much hotter than it was, but the alcohol lends itself to complete this heavy brew. Grab one to have now and one for the cellar. Cheers!
