It seems like everyone is going up to the mountains to see the beautiful changing of the leaves recently.  I’m actually headed up this weekend too to soak in the fresh fall mountain air, but before I go, I want to share a delicious fall red with you all.  We’ve been tasting some fantastic Chilean wines and this was a stand out for its value.  Casa Silva has been growing grapes for generations and many of their vines are over 90 years old, having been carried over from Bordeaux by the first generation!  Today, they are bottling their own estate wines and are leaders among premium wine producers in Chile.  The Carmenere Cuvée is a versatile red characterized by blackberries, plums and cherries with nice intensity and depth.  Minerality, floral notes and spice add complexity to its richness.  You’ll want to pair this with smoked, roasted or grilled meats, fajitas, game, and even bolognese sauce.  Happy Fall, everyone!
