Chateau des Erles – Cuvée des Ardoises Fitou 2016

Sale Price:  $10.99

Reg Price:  $16.99

While you might not be familiar with the Fitou appellation in the Languedoc region of southern France, you may be familiar with the grape blend that is typically used for the reds of the region.  The Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan that make up the blend for Chateau des Erles Cuvée Ardoises Fitou are also the dominant grapes of the Rhone reds, although stylistically the wine is more similar to reds of Corbieres.  These wines are rustic, with leather, herbs, wood and spice on top of black and red fruit.  Although ripe, there is a nice freshness to this medium bodied wine and the tannins are moderate and nicely balanced.  This wine is a great pairing for all of your winter dishes, especially with roasts, stews, and one pot meals.  Cheers!
