Wine Department Manager
Chris Lamson has worked in the wine industry in Colorado for more than fifteen years. His BS in Biology seemed more about BS than Biology, so he started looking for another career path. His wanderings took him to golf courses, national parks, photo labs and mortgage companies before he landed at a wine wholesaler and found his calling. He has lived and sold wine in Denver, Telluride and Boulder, on both the wholesale and retail levels. His fascination with wine has led him to travel extensively. He has spent time in vineyards in California, Oregon, Washington, France, Spain, Italy and Argentina. Chris has passed the first level exam of the Court of Master Sommeliers and is contemplating the second. When he isn’t at the store, he will usually be found flyfishing the local streams, hiking with his wife Carla and dog Lucy, or playing ice hockey.
Wine Manager
Matej Dolenc grew up in the Washington DC area, with a seven year stint in Slovenia (then part of the former Yugoslavia). After graduating with High Distinction in Political Science from the University of Illinois, he thought it better to go on Phish tour than to go to graduate school. After several years of hedonistic wandering he needed a job, and seeing as he had developed an interest in wine it seemed logical to get a job in a liquor store. On his first day he got to taste wines with a Frenchman and have a glass of Flora Springs Merlot with a steak dinner. Now here he is, nine and a half years later, still hanging out, tasting and buying wine, both for the store and himself. It seems that wine and music, and the traveling associated with it occupy most of his time and income.
Wine Manager
Corinne Stasco moved to Colorado from Seattle in 1992. Since then she has bounced around between Salida, Boulder and Denver. She tried her hand at several careers, including tattoo artist and medical office manager, before deciding to return to school. In 2003, she moved to Boulder and finished her degree in Anthropology at CU. Needing to make ends meet, she took a job at Superior Liquor and everything changed. Here she quickly found a new passion for wine, and particularly for the wines of Germany and Austria. When she is not working she enjoys traveling both in the states and abroad, camping, hanging out at home with her boyfriend Jerry, their dog and three cats, or dreaming of the ocean.
Peter Zabriskie started off working for us part time to compliment his job as the cheese buyer for a nearby natural grocer. He wanted to learn about wine, cheese's perfect partner. Now we are lucky to have him working for us full time, and he is one of our go-to guys. Having a cheese expert on staff is a luxury we now can't do without. Peter spends his off time hanging out with Dozer, his shovel-headed Bull Terrier, and indulging a musguided passion for the New Jersey Devils.
Justin Conway brings a ton of knowledge and experience to our team. He spent several years working the wine department at another large retailer in Denver, then worked for one of our favorite fine wine wholesalers - which is how we found him. We successfully stole him away and we couldn't be happier to have his expertise. Justin is also an accomplished guitarist, and his new band just played their first concert. Keep an eye out for him on marquees near you.
